Terms of Use

Welcome to Travel Phrase Cards (“the App”). By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). Please read them carefully before using the App.

Overview

The App allows users to:

• Browse phrase cards organized by category and language
• Show translated text side-by-side (target language and user's native language)
• Play text-to-speech audio for cards in the target language
• Create, edit, bookmark, and organize custom cards and scenarios
• Export and import cards using the app's backup & restore feature

All processing and content creation occurs locally on the user’s device by default. Custom cards and media are stored locally unless you explicitly export or share them.

User Content & Permissions

By using the App, you grant permission for the App to:

• Access local storage and media on your device to display and play cards, save exported files, and store backups
• Save exported card files to your device when you choose to do so

We do not collect, transmit, or store your media content by default. All media remains on your device unless you explicitly export or upload it using in-app features.

AI-generated Content

Certain content in the App (including recommended phrases, images, and text-to-speech audio) may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete. You accept that the App and its providers do not guarantee the correctness of AI-generated content and are not liable for any loss or harm arising from its use. Always verify critical information before acting on it.

Local Data & Backups

Custom data you create in the App (such as cards, scenarios, bookmarks, and exported media) is stored locally on your device. We do not retain this custom data on our servers. If you uninstall the App or clear local storage, that data may be lost. Use the App's backup and restore feature to keep copies of important data.

Advertising & Tracking

The App may display third-party advertisements. To comply with privacy regulations, we implement App Tracking Transparency (ATT) on supported platforms. You will be prompted to grant or deny permission for tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies.

Analytics

We use analytics tools such as Firebase Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how users interact with the App. These tools may collect anonymized usage data, including:

• Device type and operating system
• App interactions (e.g., button clicks, session duration)
• Crash reports and performance metrics

This data helps us improve the App experience. No personal video content or screenshots are included in analytics.

Data Privacy

We respect your privacy. Core processing and generation occur locally on your device. We do not upload, store, or share your media files by default. For more information on how your data is handled, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the App, including its design, features, and branding, are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without prior written consent.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
